Location: Deer Island/L’Etete, New Brunswick, Canada
Year: 2017-2018
Working with the Deer Island Local Service Committee, Department of Transportation and Infrastructure (DTI), Department of Tourism, Heritage, Culture (DTHC), and local government, a plan was developed to improve the ferry landing areas including pathways for ferry travelers. Silk Stevens prepared detailed design plans for the first phase of the project which has not yet been constructed. Due to the Bay frontage of the project, the design had to incorporate changing water levels and tides, including design in certain areas and erosion control measures. The design also incorporated elements that would require minimal maintenance.
